From May 14 to 25, 2019, discover the 72nd edition of the Cannes Film Festival

Alejandro Gonzalez Iñarritu, President of the Jury of the 2019 Cannes Film Festival

 

Mexican director, scriptwriter and producer Alejandro Gonzalez Iñarritu directed his first film in 2000, Amours chiennes, which revealed actor Garcia Bernal.

He is also responsible for 21 grams and Babel, for which he will receive the Golden Globe for best director, the Cannes Film Festival Director's Award and two Oscar nominations.

It is really with Birdman released in 2014 that the director's career will take off.

He will receive three Oscars, one for best director and one for best film.

The following year, with The Revenant and a stunning Leonardo DiCaprio, he will once again be awarded the statuette of the best director.

This year the jury will be composed of four women and four men; American actress Elle Fanning, actress and director Maimouna N'Diaye from Burkina Faso, American director Kelly Reichardt, Italian director Alice Rohrwacher, French director and draftswoman Enki Bilal, French director Robin Campillo (Grand Prix du Festival de Cannes 2017 with 120 beats per minute), Greek director Yorgos Lanthimos (Jury Prize at the Cannes Film Festival 2015 with The Lobster) and Polish director Paweł Pawlikowski.

This edition looks like a particularly promising year.

Among others, Jim Jarmush, the Dardenne brothers, Xavier Dolan, Ken Loach and Arnaud Desplechin will be present.
